Educational Information
The Distinguishing Characteristics of Music Education at the MHS
The educational goal of the MHS is to educate future composers and performers possessing a level of excellence never seen before. However, it is not enough to simply place emphasis on specialized skills training. The majority of first-rate composers and internationally-active performers have a combination of accomplished refinements and insight that does not end with their areas of specialization. It is of course necessary to have a wide and comprehensive outlook in specialized music education in order to provide students with engaging and humanistic qualities.
Based upon this philosophy, the MHS has created an educational curriculum that allows students to learn music in a systematic and comprehensive manner. Additionally, from 1999 the school has allowed students to receive specialized education from either the perspective of Western or traditional Japanese music.
